Over the Hill

This cake was made for a guy that just turned 40!

His fiance wanted an "over the hill" cake that sort of depicted his profession, he's a semi-truck driver.

This is a 1/4 sheet cake with the wonder cake mold on top as the mountain. They are all chocolate fudge cakes with french vanilla filling and vanilla buttercream.

The trees are made from pretzel twists, fondant and royal icing. The "road" is a piece of fondant, the rocks are raisinettes, the truck is real and the signs are paper.

This was a fun cake to make and I have to say that it looks pretty good for a cake that I DROPPED. Yes. I dropped this cake. Only one part was unsalvageable and we cut off the end of the front (where it hit) to give it a sloped look. I have never been more mortified in my life! And I just want to reiterate that only one part of this cake actually touched the ground and that part was cut off completely. I'm kind of glad it happened though - I think it turned out pretty great!

Because I can never choose between the pictures...

Charlie Tango May Birthdays

This cake was made for the May birthdays at Charlie Tango!

It's a triple chocolate cake with milk chocolate buttercream and fondant accents.

I have been wanting to do a cake like this for a while now so when they told me I could do whatever I wanted, I jumped at the chance! I'd had this idea in my head and I couldn't wait to use it!

Very pleased with the outcome of this cake!

Graduation cupcakes

These babies were made for the pre-k graduation up at school.

They are marble cake with vanilla bc. The "hats" are made from hand dipped Oreos and chocolate-peanut butter graham crackers. The tassle is royal icing with a pearl dragee to hold it all in place.

These were a lot of fun to make but involved MANY steps! I'm pretty pleased with the outcome though, the little hats are so cute!

Here's another photo for good measure :)

Make-up Mother's Day

This cake was ordered from a good customer of ours in celebration of Mother's Day at her church.

The "mirror" is a piece of foam board with fondant accents (luster dust to give it the mirror look).

The light bulbs are styrofoam balls covered in fondant fastened to the the board with t-pins.

The makeup pieces are all fondant. There are gold dragees in the makeup bowl and the eyeshadows are painted with lusters dusts as well.

The cake is marble and is covered in mmf (vanilla bc underneath).

Rodney totally took the lead on this cake. He made all of the makeup pieces, which came out beautifully. I did all of the creative painting and artistry but his natural talent for molding and modeling really shone through on this cake. We had four pretty big cakes this week and if it weren't for him and the great job he did, it would have never gotten done!

Really pleased with this one!

Jenny's graduation cake

This cake was made for a good friend of ours, Jenny, for her collegiate graduation from the University of North Texas!

Jenny studied to be a teacher so that was the theme of this cake!

This is a carrot cake with vanilla/cream cheese bc, and fondant accents. The only non-edible pieces on this cake are the graduation cap and the diploma. The UNT logo was made from white chocolate.

This was a really fun cake to make/ put together and the party was a lot of fun!

Congratulations Jenny!

Monster Truck Cake

This cake was made for a little boy turning 7 this year! I made this camo cake for him last year. He's into monster trucks now so a monster truck cake it is!

This cake is milk chocolate with chocolate buttercream (vanilla buttercream river and grass). The mountains are molded RK's and rocks are Bunch-A-Crunch. The truck is real.

The original concept of this cake didn't have the river through the middle - I decided to add that at the last minute. I hope they like it!

*I still need to add a "Happy Birthday" sign -which I will tonight!

fun cake!

Starfish part deux

This is (another) set of starfish cupcakes that I made for the 3 year old tea up at school. Beach themes all around!

Milk chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and molded white chocolate.

Love the colors on these!
