This business of getting a child to school every single day is rough stuff. Two days a week was manageable, now I feel like I'm just trying to get through each day to get to the weekend. It's like I'm a full on grown up now. I know what you are thinking. "You have three kids. You run a business. You are 30." I tell myself the same things each day but I guess it just felt very whimsical to me before. Now it's much more structured. We for sure have to have a real dinner each night (long gone are the days of cereal for dinner when we have a lot of cake orders that week) and I feel compelled to make sure she has a decent breakfast on most days. If I thought I spent most of my time in the kitchen before, it's like where I live now.

I can't wait until these kids are old enough so I can put them to work! Rylee's right on the cusp. She might be able to wash some dishes soon. Think of all of the blogging I can do once that happens! (I'm totally kidding. Frosted Garden in no way endorses the enforcement of child labor. Even if they are your own kids)

In the mean time internet, you get pictures with very little explanation. One of these days scientist will figure out cloning or I will have an assistant who can wash my dishes OR do my blogging.

I recently helped throw a bridal shower for a sweet friend of mine. I was in charge of the dessert table and some of the decor. I made everything on the dessert table (except the cake pops and plain sugar cookies on the far right side, the brides sister made those!), including the signage and fabric rosettes. Thanks to our new friend THE SILHOUETTE, we were able to make some very cute coordinating pieces!

Slew of pictures coming your way!

Flower cake pops made for a Mother's Day Tea! I thought the tea pots would look great with these and I'm really pleased with how they turned out!

TCU graduation cakes:

I make a couple of these every year and this year was no exception! I love these cakes and really enjoy making them! Rodney does such an excellent job on the Horned Frogs!

Holy Communion cake:

This was made for a very sweet friend of ours. Her daughter was taking her first communion and came up with this concept for a cake. She dropped it off with us and asked that we create it on a sheet cake! It's very scary trying to implement someone's design into cake but I think we hit the nail right on the head with this one!

Turtle and Farm Animal sugar cookies:

I love the way these turned out. I need to repeat that - I LOVE THE WAY THESE TURNED OUT! The farm animals in particular. They are just so so so cute!

Western high heel bridal shower cake:

I LOVE this. I say that a lot, huh? The client who ordered this cake sent me a picture of the invitation and it had a high heel with a spur and a strap on it. She asked the brides colors be incorporated (turquoise, brown and cream) and that there be a bandana on it. This is what we came up with and I'm very pleased with the result. The shoe was completely freehanded, as were each of the other details (including the belt, buckles and bandana).

These were made for a construction themed birthday party! My sweet friend only asked that we use the truck on the cake and we make some sort of cookie. We tried to keep it pretty simple with this cake because it was for a 2 year old little boy - love the truck. The little pencil makes me so happy for some reason!

I need a PA just to do my blogging/photo editing. I seriously wish I had someone who could just do this for me! It took me close to an hour to edit all of the photos!

Here's what's been happening around here lately! Including some pics from the WHITE PARTY we threw last weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday and the Owl themed baby shower that I helped throw for a very special friend.

Heart to Heart cake:

This was made for a prize drawing at my church's ladies retreat. The person who won this prize not only won the cake, but won a future cake of equal value at the time of their choosing. The top is real, the bottom is a styrofoam layer.

Easter Cake Pops and Cupcakes

Thanks to Bakerella for her ever inspiring creativity! I love love love the way the cake pops look when they are done but do not enjoy the process so much. The outcome makes it worth it though:)

Owl Baby shower:

I had the pleasure of helping throw our very close friend a baby shower along with her mother and her sister. When we started throwing around ideas for it, I thought the owl theme would be super cute and would match her personality! After weeks and weeks of planning, it was so exciting to see it all come together! I took care of the dessert table. We had the cake, mini cheesecakes, chocolate rice krispy pops, decorated sugar cookies and tootsie pops. I've included some other pictures of the shower because it turned out so great!

We also had the pleasure of making the cake for the work shower that was held last week! What a cute cake:)

This cake was made for a super sweet little boy -- ahem, young man. Skateboard theme - made to match the design of the invitation.

Ruffle cake and White Party

So I turned 30 two weeks ago. And a few months ago I had this crazy idea that we should have a big, fancy party to celebrate that. A white party! (I'd been watching a lot of the OC Housewives at the time). So we bought a big fancy tent and made some cute invitations and I spent months making tissue paper poms and ribbon decorations.

We worked so hard on this party but it seemed like everything was going against us! It was forecasted to rain on the day of the party, I couldn't find THE dress, the wind was not our friend that day and to top it all off, I had food poisoning the day before and wasn't feeling my best. It did turn out to be pretty cute regardless. Here are some photos I snapped, including the dessert table. (white sugar cookies, white chocolate cheesecake cups, coffee truffles and white ruffle cake)

I included a crossword about yours truly in the place setting. Everyone tried to complete it during dinner to see who would correctly finish first. I gave out prizes for that, a guessing game (how many white beans are the jar) and for best dressed.

That's about it around here! We're gearing up for our baby girl's pre-k graduation next week, I can't believe she's already about to enter kindergarten! Where has the time gone?

While I sulk about about my youth passed, here's a look at what we've been up to...

Pink and black cake:

Made this for a girly girl, love how simple and elegant it turned out!

Adrianna's perennial Barbie cake:

This was made for one of Rylee's close friends, Adrianna. We LOVED making this cake! We hardly ever do cakes like these and it was a ton of fun. We used the airbrush and I made buttercream roses! Not a lot of people asking for buttercream roses these days so we enjoyed it :)

My Little Pony:

Rodney totally rocked the pony on this cake! Love the colors and how bright they turned out!

Brush Embroidery Cake:

This cake had me a little nervous! I hadn't piped like this or done brush embroidery in a VERY LONG TIME. I sat down and decided to just start and see where it led me...I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite cakes that we've done this year so far. It's a lot different than most cakes we do, pretty traditional (again with the buttercream roses) but I absolutely love it. I went back over the piping with white disco glitter to make it stand out. Yay!

Woody Cake:

Okay so my super sweet friend Cristina had this vision for her son's 3rd birthday cake. She wanted the cake to look like Woody. Her thought was that she'd have her son peek his head above the top tier (all decked out in his cowboy hat) and she'd snap a super cute photo (can't wait to see this picture!). After lots of discussion and deliberation, we came up with this design. I could not be happier with it. Rodney and I both worked on this cake together (at the same time - typically we work in stages at different times) and I'm just so proud of how well we work together. We've become a well oiled machine!

Dino Cake:

Love this cake design! We love making cakes for kids so much! This was another that we hadn't done before and I'm so happy with how it turned out. I snapped this photo before I cleaned up the powdered sugar (ignore that please).

Did I mention I turned 30 this week? I think I'm already experiencing some memory loss.

I am officially the worst blogger ever! The old "I've got twins!" defense probably isn't holding too much water any more but shoot! I've got twins!

In all honesty, we had Christmas, the twins 1st birthday, I styled a party for a friend and then we were at Disney for a week. I caught the worst case of the flu eve when we returned, we've all had stomach viruses and ear infections...what else can we catch at this point? (actually, don't answer that)

The busiest week ever.

Wow! Can't believe we made it through this week! Just when I think that it can't get any crazier, it does!

Here's what went down around here ON TOP of all of our Halloween activities...

Our biggest project this week was a wedding and groom's cake for a friend. Monica and Nick are such a cute and fun couple and I was REALLY excited to take on this project. Through our meetings we somehow agreed that I would also do the flower for their big day! It was a big project but I had a lot of fun!

The groom's cake

I think this cake really personifies who Monica and Nick are as a couple! I love how unique and different it is for a groom's cake!

I actually ended up doing the flowers for this wedding, too! How crazy am I? If you ask Rodney, the answer would be "INSANE." I had some awesome help (thanks Andrea and Ana!) and I'm pretty happy with the results. I didn't photograph any thing except the bridal bouquet!

You can't see it but there is bear grass looped around the whole thing as well. Wish I had taken some better pictures! Hopefully the photographer got some shots of the florals.

Sweet Parker

This was for our friend, Arden. Arden's an AMAZING photographer! Seriously, she's one of the best and you should book with her! (www.ardenprucha.com) Her precious daughter recently turned a year old and she went with a Sweet Pea theme (play on words - get it? Pea = Parker).

What a crazy busy week! We made it through and I'm so proud of us! Time to start working on a certain little girl's 5th birthday...it's just 3 weeks away! I can't believe it...

Here's what we've been up to lately!

Cowgirl Cake for Rylee's friend, Reagan:

This cake was made for a SUPER cute western themed party! The kids rode horses, had s'mores pops and even drank lemonade out of boot shaped cups!

I love how this cake turned out. The belt buckle is my favorite part! I did make horse shaped cookies that were given out at this party but regrettably forgot to take pictures of them!

This cake was made for another little friend of Rylee's. Her mother is quite possibly the sweetest person I've ever made so I couldn't wait to get this cake made for them! All Vivi wanted was a Cinderella doll cake with her very own Cinderella in it :)

The pumpkin patch cake was a fun one to make! Rodney totally carved the pumpkin himself! Didn't he do a great job? He's such the carver-extraordinaire. I love the vines and leaves on this cake! I had fun decorating it and putting it together!

Tailgate 2010/Barbecue Grill cake

Every year our church holds a big tailgate party outside on the grounds during the weekend that the Cowboys have a by (no one would come if they were playing - though I'm not totally sure that's accurate this season). Groups get together and cook and try to outdo one another. It's a lot of fun and very competitive! I was in charge of our tailgate last year (and we won!) but I've sort of had to pass the reigns a bit this year because I have just about nine other million things going on (and when I say nine million, I mean Logan and Hadley).

Anyway, our tailgate grew so much this year! We had SEVENTY people included in our group. That's pretty amazing! The food was awesome and I'm so glad to know so many others that share in my passion for cooking/baking/decorating.

Most of us felt like The Rangers were the team we wanted to support this year so we decorated with baseballs and wore our Ranger gear :) (what? baseball fans tailgate too!)

Every year Rodney and I make a big cake for the tailgate party and this year we decided to make a barbecue grill. It's always a fun project for us to work on - and I'm pleased with how it turned out. (representing the Rangers on my fondant napkin, too)

Green Eggs and Ham baby shower cake, Teapot, Triathlon Cake

These are the cakes we worked on last week! What a crazy busy week it was, too!

Green Eggs & Ham baby shower:

This was a new one for us! We had to put on our engineering hats on to figure out the mechanics of this one. It was a challenge but we figured it out! Kudos to Rodney for making this work!

Teapot Cake:

This was made for a little girl's tea party themed birthday! Loved the way it turned out, very girly and sweet!

Dave's Triathlon Cake:

This was for our friend, Dave. Dave's wife threw him a surprise 40th birthday party at Dave and Buster's and I helped her plan everything for this exciting event! We worked for a few weeks on the perfect combination of party favors to be included in each box and she wanted a cake that represented the things that Dave loves! Both being avid athletes, the triathlon cake seemed just right!

After I finished the cake, I emailed Jenn a pic and she informed me that the bicycler was supposed to be on the middle tier and the runner should be on the top! After a little bit of refiguring, I switched the two and added some things to cover up the fondant that was messed up when the pieces were removed. These pictures were taken at the party by Jenn and Dave's friend, George (George Dean Photography in Denton, TX). I also designed the party favor boxes, aren't they cute?

I promise!

Life really seems to go by quickly when you have 2 infants (and a 4 1/2 year old) running chaos around you!

Here are a few things we've done recently, hope you enjoy them :)

Abigail's skate

This cake was created for a special little girl's skating party! Love it! The colors were totally girly and I love how the skate turned out. What a fun cake to create!

Ian's 2nd birthday cake

This cake was created to go along with a construction theme for Ian's 2nd birthday party! This cake was a lot of fun to work on, especially because we don't do a ton of topsy turvy cakes. The signage matched a lot of the party decor and the trucks matched the invitations! Such a boy cake!

Avery's cakes

These cakes were made for Avery's 1st birthday party! I love how simple the main cake is and how smash cake matched so perfectly. I have so much fun with beach cakes, especially during the summer!

Framed Diploma

This cake was created for a graduation. The client was graduating from UNT with an MBA and wanted a cake that resembled her diploma in a frame/shadow box. She also asked that we "write in" her husband's name because he'd long joked that his name should be on her diploma when she graduated because of all of the help he'd given her over the years. She thought it would be a funny and cute acknowledgement to him. Rodney recreated the diploma in photoshop and then we printed an it as an edible image. I wrote in her husband's name with an edible marker.

Baby shower cake

This cake was created for a baby shower. We were simply asked to make the cake look like the invitation. All of the animals on the cake were on the invitation and we placed them on the cake as they were on the paper (the animals formed a border around the outside edges of the invites). Simple but cute!

Cobra/Mongoose Wedding cake

I sooooo love how this cake turned out. When the bride originally came to me with this idea and the sketch, I was a little worried that we wouldn't be able to pull it off. I feel like we absolutely did pull her vision off with this cake though and we are both very proud of it!

The topper is a cobra snake (with one green and one red eye) and a mongoose with a wedding veil on it. The bride informed me that the concept for the topper came from a long family history of her soon to be husband's. Very interesting and fun story! I was so excited to work on this cake! I love love love the way it turned out. Sorry for the multiple pics, I want you to get the full effect!

Busy couple of weeks! Loved this cake! We used the Wilton carousel kit but replaced the plastic horses with sugar cookie ones. Loved the colors on this one!

This is the groom's cake to go along with the wedding cake from last weekend. It's chocolate with chocolate ganache. Love the details on this cake.

Tiffany Box Baby Shower

This was made for a baby shower for the upcoming arrival of a little boy! I've been wanting to make one of these for a while, so I'm glad we had the chance!!

It's been so long! By the time I sit down to edit and post photos these days, I'm too tired to even think about it! Here's a peak at what we've been up to!

Lingerie Cake:

Chinese Take Out Box:

I'm super proud of this cake - I hand painted the pagoda's and wording. The noodles are buttercream made with the grass tip and the rest of the cake is fondant. I just love how the pagoda's turned out!

Crawfish Broil Cake:

We had so much fun with this cake! We just got our new airbrush so we were able to try it out on the crawfish and the pot. We wanted to make the pot look like it was a little beat up since this was ordered for a party that has been thrown for several years! I also got the chance to make a sugar bottle with this cake and I am so happy with the way this one turned out! You couldn't even tell that it was not real :) I made the mold for the bottle myself and with Rodney's help, poured the sugar for the bottle. Everything is edible on this cake except for the cup (it's supposed to look like a cup of frozen hurricane). Loved this project!

We've done a few other small projects here and there, hopefully I can get those up soon! (we also started testing out our new Cricut and are SO excited to share how awesome this machine is!)

This one was made for our nephew, Miles, for his 4th birthday! Miles loves Mario and wanted a cake that showed just how much! Mario is super popular right now but we had a really good time with this cake!

This cake was made for a friend's son, for his 5th birthday! Super happy with the way this turned out!

This bouquet was a thank you gift - the daisies and bees are NFSC with rolled buttercream and royal icing details!

Go Away cake:

This cake is super funny to me. It's a housewarming cake that showcases the couple's personality! We had a good time doing this cake, we have the same door mat (even if it is on the back porch).

Lots of stuff to update with!

This first cake is one that took me literally 7 hours to paint. I loved the way it came out and I really enjoyed hand painting this cake. It's a chocolate cake with black raspberry filling. The client asked for a replica of this particular Herend figure. I think we did it justice!

This is a picture of the piece - it's actually gold on the bottom where it looks black.

Here's our take on it!

Western themed first birthday cake

Love this cake! the bottom tier is chocolate with oreo cream filling, middle is banana with chocolate fudge and the top tier is key lime with cream cheese. Love these different flavors! All covered in fondant. I made the one with fondant, painted it red and added edible glitter to it for some extra sparkle!

Moose & Zee smash cake:

This cake was made to go along with the western themed cake above. The little boy turning 1 loves Moose and Zee, this just seemed like the appropriate choice! Both Moose and Zee are made from a 50/50 gum paste/fondant mixture. The cake is carrot with vanilla buttercream.

Teacher cookie bouquet:

This cookie bouquet was made for a teacher that was leaving the school she worked at. It's an 8 piece bouquet with cookies that look like an apple, notebook paper, a chalkboard, red and green crayons, a ruler and a pencil! Love this bouquet!

Superhero cupcakes:

These were made for a little boy who wanted Spiderman, Batman and Superman cupcakes for his birthday! These are chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. The emblems were made with white chocolate!

Belle Cake:

This cake was made for one of Rylee's good friends, Adrianna, for her 5th birthday. Adrianna loves princesses and picked Belle for cake. It's a chocolate-chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream and fondant. Used lots of gold dust and glitter on this one, love the way it turned out!

FInley's 1st Birthday cake:

This smash cake was made for some friends of ours. Baby Finely recently turned 1 and her momma went with a "Cirque Du Bebe" theme for her party! Simple design for this cake based on the invitation design. I hand painted the plaque and piped the swirls around the cake. Used lots of glitter on this one, too!

French Press Cake:

This was made for a groom - we'd never made a cake like this and I'd never seen one either. I'm pleased with the way it turned out! Chocolate mocha flavored cake with dark chocolate buttercream and fondant!

Peace Cake:

This cake was made for special 12 year old. She requested a cake with a world and purple peace signs. This is what I came up with! It's a milk chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream and fondant accents. I'm pretty pleased with the way the continents turned out on the world portion of the cake - I free handed them!

30th birthday cake:

This cake was made for a 30th birthday! The only direction we got for the cake was to make it girly and to use purple - this is what we came up with!

Over the Hill cake:

This cake was made for a friend, for his surprise 40th birthday party! We love making this cake, I love how the trees turned out!

Spiderman Head cake:

This cake was made for a special birthday party! Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant. All fondant details!

Batman & Robin cake:

Keeping with the superhero theme last week, this cake was also made for a special birthday! The little boy requested a Batman and Robin cake and this is what we came up with!

Monogrammed Cupcakes:

These were made for a bridal shower this past weekend. They are strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. I made the disc out of fondant, piped the "A" with royal icing and painted it with silver luster dust! Super cute and sparkly!

Toy Story Cake:

This cake was made for the birthday party of a little boy turning 3!! I absolutely love the way this cake turned out! The bottom tier is chocolate cake with oreo mousse filling, middle and top tiers are french vanilla with vanilla buttercream. All of the cakes are covered in fondant, with fondant accents. The toys are all real :)

Well! It's been such a long time since I have updated!

We certainly had orders since 12/3 but with all of the holiday craziness, I never found the time to get everything posted. I promise to get those pictures up very soon!

I know this is our cake blog but many of the people that follow us also know that we were expecting twins this month. Part of the reason for my lack of posts is that they came a little bit early!

Our holiday was great - we stayed in town for Christmas this year (first time I haven't been to Austin in I don't know how long) and started focusing on getting things ready for the babies.

I had an appointment the Monday after Christmas (the 28th) for a weekly check up. I hadn't progressed ONE BIT! Nothing was happening, my body was not preparing itself to have these babies in any way! We left the appointment that day a little discouraged (my c-section was scheduled two weeks later) but decided to start walking as much as possible. We walked for 2 hours that night. The next day, Rodney made me an appointment with my hair stylist. After the appointment, we walked the mall for 3 hours! Wednesday we went with Rodney up to CUT so he could take care of something a client needed. Afterwards we headed to Northpark Mall and walked for a whopping FOUR HOURS. I thought my feet were going to fall straight off. We came home, I took a bath and felt like maybe we'd over done it a bit. The next morning I woke up feeling very lethargic and just ... not right. We took my blood pressure, it was 156/110 so we put in a call to the doctors office. They wanted us to come in immediately.

Thinking we were just going to go in for a quick check, we jumped in the car. I was in my pajamas, no make up on and nothing with us. I cried the whole way there because I felt just awful! When we got to the hospital/doctors office, I vomited in the parking lot. We were taken into a room right away. My doctor came in pretty concerned and did a cervical check. He said I hadn't progressed that much more but that he thought things were starting to take a turn for the worse. My blood pressure was elevated and I was in a lot of pain. He told the nurse to call up and book the OR. He told us to go on upstairs.

We were a little panicked. We had Rylee with us and NONE of our things! We started making phone calls to let everyone know we were headed upstairs. Once we got into triage and they hooked me up to all of the monitors, they told Rodney he had a short amount of time to get Rylee somewhere and pick up a few things. I sat in triage by myself, which was not all that fun. The nurse was monitoring me and apparently the pain I was feeling were very strong contractions. Very strong, very LONG contractions. I had no idea what that even felt like! I never had one with Rylee so this was a new experience for me.

Rodney made it back with TEN minutes to spare. Literally ten minutes after he got there, we were going into the OR. I hate that part. The part where you have to be in there by yourself. Fifteen minutes later they brought Rodney in and were ready to begin.

Logan Elliot was born on 12/31 (yes, new years eve!) at 1:33 pm and weighed a whopping SEVEN pounds!

Hadley Reed was born on 12/31 at 1:35 pm and weighed in at 6.2 lbs!!

It all happened so fast! We went into the doctors office at 11:15 and by 1:33, we had baby number 1!

We were totally unprepared - if you know me at all, you know that I really like to have things together and in order. So not the case! Our Christmas tree was still up, we hadn't installed the carseat bases into the car, we needed to clean the car out, the bathrooms were not cleaned, house not vacuumed, nothing sterilized and no bags packed!! The nursery has been ready for a while and amidst all of our walking, we did manage to completely overhaul Rylee's room and re-do her closet. When I say redo, I mean - we got the novel idea of making over her closet at 8:10 on a Tuesday night. We jumped in the car and raced to Frisco in order to get to Ikea. We got there at 8:50 (it closes at 9), got the stuff we needed, drove home, put Rylee to bed in the nursery and then spent the next several hours tearing out and repairing her closet. Last minute project but I am glad we go that in!

We had a great stay in the hospital - I loved all of my nurses. They were all warm and caring and even the hospitality staff took great care of us. The babies didn't have to go to the NICU and were allowed to stay in the room with us! They are considered pre-term because they were 36 weeks when they were born but amazingly, they had no problems at all!

So far everything has been great! We can't believe the babies were born on NEW YEARS EVE! We call them the "party babies." We watched the ball drop in our hospital room, with the babies by our side and a nurse taking my vitals. Couldn't have been better!

We left 3 days later, Sunday evening. The first day or two was a little rough but by now, we seem to be getting into a bit of a groove. Rodney was off all last week and is off this week as well. I seriously tear up at the thought of him going back to work next Monday. I don't know how I will survive without him! He has been amazing throughout this entire thing.

The recovery from your second c-section is SOOOO much worse than the first! Why didn't anyone tell me that?? I have already had problems with my incision opening in certain places and I feel like I might have busted something on the inside. People keep telling me to slow down, maybe I should listen!

Anyway, the babies will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and so far, they are pretty amazing. They hardly cry at all (far different from Rylee) and they seem to be pretty easy going. (Logan does have a bit of a temper though). We even managed to make a cake and 3 dozen cupcakes last week and they were less than a week old!

Rylee's 4th Birthday Cake/Party

Here are the pictures and a few details of Rylee's 4th birthday cake/party!

The cake:

I saw a cake similar to this on Pink Cake Box's website. We happened to be using this invitation for the party so I thought it would fit perfectly! The birthday girl requested a pink crown on top so we added that to the design as well. The bottom tier is strawberry with cream cheese filling. The top is banana cake with cream cheese filling. All covered in fondant and fondant details!

I do two cookie favors each year at her party. These are the ones we went with this year!

This is probably my favorite part of putting together Rylee's birthday parties. I love to come up with different favors each year. I used the same person to do the boxes as I did last year, with a little different design.

The charms that are attached to each box were also found on Etsy. I was able to pick the color and font for the little discs and once I received they, I attached the metal lanyards (found at Hobby Lobby for $1.50 for about 30). I tied the tags to the boxes so that each child would know which was theirs. They work great as zipper pulls for backpacks or even jackets! I found another great Etsy seller that made cute mini notepads and had him design some based on the invitation. They came out PERFECTLY! I put a mini gel pen in the box to go along with the notepad.

Bubbles:

I bought a bulk supply of bubbles (24) in the wedding section at WalMart for about $4. I had Rodney create a label (again based on the design on the invitation) that read, "Rylee's B-Day Bubbles." We printed them on some address labels and attached them to the bubbles. They turned out pretty cute!

Gummy Bear Soaps:

I found another unique Etsy seller that makes fun soaps, including some that look like gummy bears. I thought these would be fun (and practical considering it's flu season) for the kids!

I also added a little package of fruit snacks to each box to complete the whole thing! Like I said, I LOVE this part of party planning!

Bottom tier is vanilla with black raspberry, second tier is red velvet, third tier is lemon and the top tier is a dummy. Shades of pink were the theme of this wedding, I love the way this cake turned out!

The groom's cake is vanilla chocolate chip with chocolate buttercream.

This was the cake for the tailgate party this year at our church. It also served as my brother's birthday cake :)

The first cake this week was made for the celebration of a very big birthday! It's a chocolate cake with all fondant pieces!

This cake was made for one of Rylee's little classmates (and friend), Dylan. Dylan loves all things Dinoco and wanted a Dinoco themed cake! Vanilla cake with fondant!

The Wubbzy cake was made for a little girl who loves the show! I love the colors on this cake! It's a chocolate cake with black raspberry filling. The Wubbzy is fondant and the cake is iced in buttercream with fondant accents. The remaining characters are foam plaques!

The last cake is the cake we made for our family baby shower this weekend! My good friend Jessica was gracious enough to throw the shower for us (this is the second one she's hosted - I promise Jess, no more babies!) and I couldn't have loved the theme more! I'm including a picture of the cake and the table, it was all so beautiful!

(PS - I totally mimicked the design of a cake from the talented Melody who owns the Sweet and Saucy Shop - it's not EXACTLY the same but it definitely served as my inspiration. And as you can see, it worked with the theme perfectly!)

Busy week for us! We have an even busier week THIS week, if you can believe it!

These were made for one of Rylee's little friends, Reagan. We made cookies for her to take to school and cupcakes for her super fun pumpkin patch birthday party!

These wedding cakes were made in a big hurry! The groom's cake is German chocolate with a fondant Harley logo (Rodney did a GREAT job on this logo) and the wedding cake is almond cake with vanilla filling and Italian Creme! Yum!

This cake was made for a little girl in Rylee's dance class, Vivi. I LOVE the way this cake turned out! The buttercream was nice to me that day and I got a nice, smooth cake! Simple but super cute!

Owen's drum cake:

All fondant, strawberry cake. Good thing I have a hubby whose a drummer, this cake would have been too hard to do on my own!

Girly Skull Cake:

This was our girly take on a cake we made almost a year ago! Love the way it turned out! The skull is RKT's covered in chocolate and fondant and the rest of the cake is buttercream!

Lastly, here are a few pictures of the dessert/candy buffet I did for my 10 year high school reunion. (which I also happened to organize...never again!) I'm happy with the way the table turned out!

These cakes were made for some special twins! Bailey and Morgan turned 5 this past weekend and each got to choose their theme this year! Bailey choose Fancy Nancy and Morgan choose Brody the Dog from a Kohl's (Kids Who Care) Book.

Bailey's cake:

Everything on Bailey's cake was edible, except for the giant feather on top :) I absolutely loved making and decorating this cake. It turned out JUST as I imagined it!

Morgan's cake:

Everything on Morgan's cake was edible as well! The head, arms and legs were made from RKT's and I just love how dead on it is! Rodney worked primarily on this cake, while I did Bailey's cake. Yay team!

This cake was made for a friend's daughter's 3rd birthday!

DJ Lance's boom box is made from styrofoam covered in fondant and painted with silver luster dust. The bottom is all cake - 3 layers, two vanilla and one chocolate. Each side is decorated to resemble each character's "land" in the show.

The only side I don't have a picture of is "toodee's." You get the point though!

These cakes were made this weekend!

Turtle Beach cake (super proud of this one!)

Two tiered red velvet cake with vanilla bc and fondant. Everything is edible and made from fondant except for the little sign on the top of the cake. LOVED this cake!

Quilted Baptism Cake:

This cake was fun to make - It's a strawberry cake with vanilla b/c and fondant! I used the quilted impression mat to do the sides and silver dragees for accents. (the cross is made from fondant)

Stegosaurus:

This cake was a bit of an experiment for us. We'd never done a cake like this, nor had I ever seen one. It's a chocolate cake (that I dyed red for effect) with chocolate icing and fondant. I like the way it came out but we definitely feel like there could be improvements.

Girly Soccer/Texas cake:

The request for this cake was soccer, Texas themed and girly. I'd seen a cake similar to this with more of a music theme and I used it as my basis. Everything on the cake is edible, except for the "17." I made the numbers out of fun foam. I really like the way this cake turned out, hopefully the birthday girl liked it too!

We had a super busy week!

These were made for a little girl turning 2! She wanted strawberry shortcake themed desserts and these are what we came up with!

Cowboy Themed Baby shower cake/cupcake

This was made for a baby shower! I am pretty happy with the results. I hand painted the handkerchief design and Rodney made the baby, it's so cute! The cupcake was made for the big sister!

Beach Wedding cake

This was made for a reception after a destination wedding. The entire cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream, crushed wafers and chocolate shells.

Ian's first birthday!

Our friends Amy and Garren were celebrating their baby's 1st birthday party and went with a beach theme! Because Ian has so many people that love him, they had to have TWO PARTIES! These were all made for both parties - I also made cookie favors but forgot to take a picture!!

I can't believe this is my 200th post!

Here are a few cakes we did over the weekend, plus one we completed tonight.

1st birthday cake:

Two tiered wedding cake (this cake went to a reception that was at the Ballpark in Arlington, pretty cool!)

The bottom tier is vanilla chocolate chip and the top tier is strawberry.

This bulldog cake was made for a young boy's birthday! This was a special cake in that the customer has purchased expensive cakes in the past and been disappointed. We're hoping we can be the ones to make them happy! This cake is supposed to resemble one of the family's bulldogs, hopefully we did the dog justice!

This entire cake is real - the head is made from Rice Krispy Treats and the iPhone is fondant! We had a good time with this cake!

These were on the agenda this week! It's definitely been a crazy one!!

Wedding of the week:

The bottom tier is vanilla with strawberry buttercream, the second tier is vanilla with black raspberry buttercream, third tier is vanilla with whipped lemon buttercream and the top tier is fake!

The groom's cake is triple chocolate with amaretto buttercream filling, chocolate buttercream on the outside and chocolate covered strawberries.

These are vanilla cupcakes split in half, brownie "meat patties," fondant lettuce and cheese, royal icing mustard and ketchup!

Rodney did such a good job carving this Shrek face out - it was seriously scary having it in my house it was so realistic! All vanilla cake with fondant, RKT ears. Loved this one!

Yes. This was the craziest week of our lives. I'm almost positive I am typing this in my sleep. Please excuse any grammar or punctuation erors. See, there was one just now. ERRORS.

I'd love to go into major detail about every cake but like I said, I am sleeping and this is all a dream. Short and sweet folks, short and sweet.

First up, pre-k graduation and end of the year cupcakes. This week was the end of preschool for the year and that meant it was time for all of the pre-kers to graduate. I made these same cupcakes last year so it wasn't terribly difficult to get these together.

I also made these butterfly cupcakes for Rylee's class. They were the "butterflies" this year and when I saw these in Hello Cupcake!, it made perfect sense!

This pink bridal shower cake was for a last minute order. Pretty simple request and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE using disco glitter! Glitter for everyone! (Red velvet with vanilla buttercream and marshmallow fondant)

Baseball Bridal

This cake was done for the shower of a couple whose wedding I am doing later this summer. They are baseball fans and her bridesmaid thought this cake would be a perfect fit! Rodney and I had a lot of fun with this one, I love how it turned out! (dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and milk chocolate icing. the cupcakes are dark chocolate with vanilla buttercream)

And last but not least, THE wedding cake.

This cake was a lot of fun to work on. I really thought we would have more problems with this cake but it all seemed to work out. The top two tiers are dummies, leaving the bottom three tiers real (vanilla/vanilla buttercream). Rodney did the fondant work on the cake (stripes and dots) and I made the bow and iced the entire thing. (ivory buttercream)

I am really pleased with the way it turned out. I wish we had turned the middle tier in just a little bit more but in the end, I think it was fine.

I covered that cake in disco glitter, I can't wait to see some of the professional pictures! Our friend, William was the dj and he put some spot lights on it as well. I am so excited to see how it looked all together!

It was literally the craziest week of our lives but we managed to survive! I am so proud of both Rodney and I, we hardly got any sleep but I think everyone who ordered a cake this week was happy!

" Cup-cookies", TCU Graduation, Sweet 16 Cake, & a Wedding Cake

All of these were made this week! It's been very busy around here!

These were my little creation for the Mother's Day Tea up at school (MDO). I'm calling them "cup-cookies." I'm sure you can infer from the name that they are both a cupcake AND a cookie! Bonus! I loved the way these turned out and they were pretty yummy, too! 75 in total!

The next cake on the doc this week was for a TCU graduate. Similar design as the one I did a few months back with a few updates!

This sweet 16 cake was made with very specific color instructions! I'm pleased with the way it turned out though I do wish I had added something to the tops of the floral curls. Maybe some stars or balls, I don't know, something!

The last cake this week was for a wedding. Super cute colors! BTW, it's getting to be that time of year around here when the heat and the humidity start affecting everything we do. This cake was my first clue! Difficult at times but I'm pleased with the way it turned out!

These were made for little Conner's first birthday! If you recall, I did a small cake for a 1st birthday photo shoot Conner had a few weeks back. These goodies were made for his actual party!

I also did some animal cupcakes for the party as well - but I only managed to get a picture of the monkey's. :(

Lastly, I celebrated my 28th birthday this Saturday. Yes, I made my cake. Sadly, in all the craziness of cake baking/decorating, 3 Easter Egg hunts/celebrations, my birthday dinner & party ... I somehow forgot to take pictures of my cake :(

Thanks to the magic of Facebook, this cake was created for one my high school classmates' birthday!

This was a pretty fun cake to make. Didn't Rodney do a great job of carving out the right shape? That guy is definitely becoming a big part of this whole thing. Aside from carving the cake, he also made me a template to look at of the word "Murphy" in the Coors font. I free handed it as best I could and I'm pretty happy with the results!

This first cake of the weekend was made for one of the cutest girls I know!

She's a big Jonas brother's fan so I combined the design of a two tiered cake that she and her momma liked and came up with this! It's all chocolate with vanilla buttercream and fondant decorations. I printed the picture off myself and attached it to a piece of foam board for the final touch!

Ramona's book cake

This cake was made for my MIL, Ramona, for her 60th birthday!

My FIL decide to throw her a huge surprise party (or have us throw her, rather) and we took on the task of making her this giant cake! She has her master's in library sciences and works for the Hurst Public Library so the book theme seemed natural. I had been wanting to make her a book cake for a while and this was the perfect opportunity!

Crossword and Coffee

This cake was made for a die hard coffee drinker and lover of crosswords!

It's a 1/4 sheet (strawberry cream cake - yum!) iced in vanilla buttercream. The crossword and pencil are fondant - the coffee mug (made to resemble the birthday boy's very own coffee mug used for many years) is RKT covered in fondant as well.

This was harder than it looks but I love the way it turned out! The pencil is my favorite part ;)

Classic NES Controller for Matthew

This cake was made on the fly (we had been home an hour from snowboarding in Colorado when we started it) for my youngest brother Matthew, for his 15th birthday.

Last year I made him the Wii cake, this year he gets classic NES!

It's 1/4 sheet cut down (french vanilla) with strawberry buttercream covered in marshmallow fondant. Rodney did so much work on this cake (I had the flu the entire time we were in Colorado), if it hadn't been for his help, I don't believe there would have been a cake! All of the details are fondant, with the exception of the words, which were piped on by me!

Sofia's Princess Castle

This cake was made for one of Rylee's BFF's, Sofia. Sofia had her birthday party at pretty cool place called, Let's Pretend in Grapevine. (owned by one of my students mom!)

We based this design on a cake that I found on Cake Central - it's an 8 inch chocolate cake (two layers). The pillars are made from PVC, wrapped in fondant. The tops of the pillars are obviously sugar cones - decorated with junior mints. The cake is iced in vanilla buttercream. All of the other details (flowers, doors) are fondant except for the strawberry creme kisses on top of the castle!

The doll is a cupcake with a Wilton mini doll pick and fondant skirt. Pretty simple but I love the way it turned out!

What a fun cake!

Fun because we lovelovelove making cakes for kids around here and fun because this cake was made for a very good friend of mine from highschool!

Facebook/Myspace and Blogger sure do have a way of reuniting friends. You never know who is out there reading your blog ;)

Brandon and Mindy's oldest son, Dylan, is turning 5 and wanted a Star Wars themed cake. It's half chocolate/half vanilla, iced in buttercream with fondant details/accents.

Rodney did a great job of carving this cake out and getting the right shape. I'm not going to lie though, it was incredibly difficult to ice. I don't know if I did the best job of getting it iced but I think it turned out okay in the end.

Fun cake! Thanks to The Kennedy Family for asking me to do this! I'm so glad I was able to see you guys!

Liberty's 1st Birthday

These cakes were made for some very good friend's of ours, for their daughter's first birthday! Mommy Marissa pretty much gave me creative freedom with these only asking to match the invitation print as best we could. This cake is especially special to me because I also made the cake for shower thrown to welcome Liberty! I'm pleased with the results but their are definitely some changes that I would make in hindsight.

The main cake is a 1/4 sheet vanilla iced in buttercream with fondant and buttercream accents. I love how the cake turned out but I'm not sold on the paper I chose for the board. I think the two different blues are a little too much. After thinking and thinking about how I wanted to add the "swirly" design, I finally decided to carefully brush some brilliant silver luster dust in different patterns on the buttercream. I'm very pleased with the results.

The Smash Cake

This is also a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. It's a 5 inch cake, the "1" on top is fondant that I painted with teal luster dust. Love the colors on this one!

Harley Cake

This cake was made for some friends of ours from church!

The cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream - the vanilla buttercream is heavily dyed black. The flames are made from marshmallow fondant and after much debate, were formed using a cookie cutter (made my Rodney). We made them all in yellow. I then painted the orange around the sides using orange food coloring mixed with vanilla extract.

The logo shape is made from fondant but the words/letters were piped on (by yours truly) with none other than...vanilla buttercream! I free-handed the words and though they aren't totally centered, I'm still pretty pleased with the results.

Had fun with this cake!

TCU Graduation

This cake was a last minute cake made for one of my brother's room mates, for her graduation from TCU.

It's a carrot cake with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents. The bottom of the cap is made from a 5 inch round cake covered in fondant. The top is a piece of foam core covered in fondant and is the only non-edible piece on the cake!

Pretty happy with the results of this cake considering we did it very quickly!

Oh Christmas Tree...

We made this cake for Tango, to celebrate the birthdays for the month of December.

I always get "creative freedom" when it comes to their cakes but this month that worked in our favor especially considering I might need to make another one of these next week. I thought I could use the practice and make it on a smaller scale - and it actually ended up being a lot of fun!

I made 3 eight inch cakes, 3 six inch, 1 five inch and 1 two inch. (assorted chocolate and vanilla) Rodney stacked them all and carved them into the cone shape. The leaves are overlapping diamond cutouts (fondant) and I made the ornaments by melting down jolly ranchers and shaping them into balls. I also added silver dragees for the "twinkle" effect. The "gifts" at the bottom of the tree are petit fours that I dipped in either milk or white chocolate.

We were pretty pleased with the outcome of this cake. It's got a nice clean feel to it, which I like. I'm not a huge fan of super busy cakes. I guess I'm the same way in every day life, I like straight lines and things that have a modern feel to it. (pertaining to my home and even my clothes!)

My gosh this was a busy weekend!

Aside from the 11 cookie cutters and three parties, we had 2 intense cakes and a cupcake order!

This first cake was probably one of the hardest cakes we've ever worked on. Our really good friend Ryan is a LOTR fanatic and mentioned to me a few months back that he wanted a "ring" cake from the books/movies. I told him we could probably do it and then brushed it aside, thinking he would forget it.

He did not forget it.

He asked for the ring cake and wanted the elvish inscriptions. But he did not want fondant.

Needless to say we had a pretty big task ahead of us.

I baked two 10 inch cakes and cut the middle out. I then split the cake in half and iced the inside of each ring. We had taken the inscriptions and blown them up and I used a straight pin to push through wax paper I had placed underneath. I tried pressing the wax paper into the cake to use as a transfer but I could only get parts of letters (is that what they call them in elvish? I have no idea). So I ended up free-handing about 85% of it. Once I had the inside of the ring piped, I pushed the cakes back together, iced the outside and piped the inscription. I brushed super gold luster dust on the entire thing to give it the gold effect. It's not my prettiest cake but you can definitely tell what it is.

I would really love to do this cake in fondant at some point.

The second cake of the weekend was for our very good friends' daughter, Kaitlyn (she's Rylee's friend too). Kaitlyn is turning 5 and really loves all things princess. Her birthday party was a girls only affair and there was tea and lemonade to accompany all of the princess-like activities.

Kaitlyn's Mommy (hi Desiree!) chose a cake that she really liked and asked if I could make it. I was excited about this cake because, and I know I have said this time and time again, but I REALLY love makings kids cakes.

I made 5 (strawberry) cakes and after they were stacked, Rodney carved down the top to resemble a castle. Earlier in the week we had covered the board in green and blue fondant. We wanted it to look like there was grass and water around the castle.

Everything else is pretty self explanatory. The pillars are paper towel rolls covered in fondant. The tops are sugar cones also covered in fondant, the top walls of the castle are sugar cubes, I piped the flowers and vines with buttercream, the door and bridge are fondant.

This cake was very labor intensive but it was totally worth it. I loved the way it turned out and I can't wait to make another one!

Melinda's cupcakes:

These cupcakes were for a couple that we attend church with. They are having a baby in January and this has to be their 6th or 7th shower! They are having a boy and decorating the room in a Harley theme - they asked that I come up with something that went along with that a little. This is what I came up with!

Busy busy weekend! we don't have as many cakes this week but we do have one and a large amount of cookies to make! We haven't even started Christmas shopping yet!

Amy's Wedding Cake

This is the cake that we drove to Vegas!

Our very good friends invited us to come celebrate their marriage and asked if we would mind bringing along their wedding cake.

We'd been planning this for months and months! How to transport, how to keep the cakes cool, when to bake the cakes, when to make the icing...so on and so on.

Rodney and the groom (Tyler) came up with a ice chest/refrigeration/coolant system. They built an ice chest out of styrofoam and included chambers for the cakes to sit on (with dry ice underneath) to keep them cool the entire car trip there.

I baked the cakes the afternoon before we left. We leveled and got them all crumb-coated and set them in their places for the trip, with the dry ice below. We made it to Vegas with all of the cakes in tact, including the dummy cake that I iced a week before we left.

We arrived in Vegas around midnight (their time) and settled in for the night. The following morning I woke up and immediately got to work. We set the mixer up on the dresser and started plugging away.

The cake! The bottom tier is the dummy, the middle is key lime with strawberry buttercream and the top is vanilla with strawberry buttercream. The entire thing is covered in vanilla buttercream. The board was covered in fondant before we left and embossed with an overlapping oval pattern. The pattern was used in the invitations that the bride and groom sent out so it was nice to be able to incorporate that!

I did have some issues with the icing. The weather is much drier there and I think traveling through all of the different climate changes might have affected the shortening a bit. Regardess, I think we were able to make it look half decent for traveling 20 hours from Texas!

Bisola's Cakes

These cakes were made for a loyal customer of mine this week. I didn't think we were going to be able to do the turkey cake but we decided to rush back (drove straight through from Nevada to Texas without stopping) to get it done. We'd done the same turkey cake for her last year and she asked for the same this year.

It's a marble cake with vanilla buttercream. The stuffing is cake, the vegetables are fondant and the legs/wings are rice krispy treats. I painted the entire cake with a piping gel/cinnamon mixture.

Priela's cake

This cake is a duplicate of a cake that was made in a very popular bakery in the UK, The Cake Shop. It was made in celebration of a second birthday.

It's a marble cake with strawberry filling, covered in fondant with fondant details. This cake came out beautifully!!

This cake was made for the son of a friend of mine, from high school. Our kiddos even have the same birthday!

The idea was taken from another cake decorator, just changed some colors around a bit. Once it's home (since they are picking it up while we are in route to Vegas) they will add the gold coins and maybe even a little brown sugar sand. The cake is all chocolate with vanilla buttecream. The skull on top is made from rice krispy treats, covered in melted white chocolate and marshmallow fondant.

Hopefully I'll get to see some pictures once it's complete...hint hint!

CUT Anniversary/Wedding cake

Hey there out there blog followers!

This is shortshortshort post about two of the cakes I have worked on this week. I'm currently finishing up the 3rd cake and baking the 4th. The 4th cake is the wedding cake that we'll be traveling to Las Vegas with!

This cake was made for Charlie Tango for their yearly anniversary celebration. I think it's the 12th year -- I might be wrong on that though. I know this is the third anniversary cake I have made for them!

It's have milk chocolate, half vanilla with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents!

This wedding cake was made for a friend of the family. They wanted a red velvet cake covered in white buttercream with a simple border! Voila!

Hopefully I will have time to update with the 3rd cake and I'll definitely take a lot of pictures and give a detailed account of how we transported the 3 tiered wedding cake!

Amanda's Wedding Reception

These cakes were made for an old friend of mine, Amanda.

Amanda and her hubby had a beachside wedding last week and a reception here, this weekend. They decided to keep the beach theme for the reception and requested a treasure chest and a simple ivory cake with seashells.

The treasure chest is 2 quarter sheet German chocolate cakes covered in chocolate buttercream. The lid is rice kripsy treats and the accents are fondant and candy. The sand is a mixture of crushed vanilla wafers and golden brown sugar.

I really love making these cakes. I would totally make a treasure chest every week if someone wanted me to!

The bridal cake's bottom tier is vanilla cake with cream cheese filling. The top tier is vanilla cake with coconut cream mousse. The entire thing is covered in vanilla buttercream with white chocolate (tinted brown) seashells. I also made an additional 50 shells so that everyone could have a shell. This cake had some issues. The temperature changes from day to day is killing my dependability with my buttercream. I iced this cake when it was in the low 40's and today when we drove it to the reception site, it was in the high 60's. This changed the buttercream and caused it to slide and crack slightly. It drives me absolutely crazy when things like this happen but seriously, no one else ever notices. Also, this is a big reason most wedding cakes are done in fondant.

Wilson is having a Curious George themed party and this was our take on a cake that I found online. The original cake was yellow with brown stripes but Mom wanted more of the primary colors incorporated into the design. This is what I came up with!

Every year I do a cookie favor or two to give out to the guests as a way of saying thanks. The kids get their little favor boxes but we have plenty of adults who come to celebrate Rylee's birth (and several that don't even have kids!) and I feel like they should walk away with something as well.

The cake!

The idea for this cake came from one of many hours that I have spent perusing the cake-lined pages of CakeCentral (even though I have not been able to upload to that site for a year and a half because I have a Mac and they refuse to fix that bug, I still get inspiration almost daily from the many pictures that ARE able to be put up on that site). I wanted something that was a little more modern and bright than just regular cherry blossoms on piped on a cake so I based this design off of one that I'd seen that was similar.

The bottom tier is vanilla cake with whipped lemon curd buttercream and the top is vanilla with strawberry buttercream. The entire thing is covered in vanilla buttercream. The "R" on top and the leaves are fondant and I piped all of the details in vanilla b/c as well.

I'm very pleased with the way this cake turned out and Rylee absolutely loved it. She was so excited. I think this is the first year she actually understands what a birthday is and how it works. And I'm pretty sure this was a big deal for her because cakes are a dime a dozen around here and NONE of them are ever for her. She constantly asks if the cake I am working on is for her and the answer she always gets is, "No baby this cake is for so and so." This week the answer was, "YES! Rylee, this is YOUR birthday cake!" She was proud.

Weekend cakes

This weekend was crazy! Aside from the two parties we attended, we took care of 4 cakes (one of them being the Jack cake)!

This first cake was made for my Dad, for his birthday. We took two 1/4 sheet vanilla cakes, put them side by side, and then carved the Longhorn shape. It's covered in strawberry buttercream that was tinted burnt orange. Rodney did such a good job carving this cake but I seem to have lost some of the definition in it after I iced it. I had to put three coats of icing on it to keep the crumbs in! My dad is a huge Longhorns fan and this was a big hit while we were celebrating ... it helps that Texas won yesterday too, hook 'em!

This cake is a different version of the margarita cake I have made in the past. It's for my friend, Tricia, for her birthday. I wanted to make a chocolate martini and tried to find the martini glass but they were completely out of them and I had to settle for the margarita glass. You get the point!!

This is a chocolate peanut butter cake with peanut butter buttercream filling and chocolate buttercream on top (and around the sides) The rim was done with piping gel and chocolate sprinkles. I tasted a bit of this cake and it was great!

The final order made this weekend was for our pastor's wife, Claudia. They were in the middle of a big move this weekend and I wanted to make sure her birthday was recognized so I decided to bring these in with me to church today!

These are chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and white chocolate candy molds on top! These were super fun to make! (my apologies for the lackluster photo, it was a very busy weekend)

Jack's Whiskey

This cake was made for Rodney's boss, Jack.

If you have been following this blog for a little while now, you'll recall that last years cake for Jack included an explicative that had to be blurred out.

This year no profanity but instead, a personalized bottle of whiskey.

This is a carrot cake with vanilla buttercream, covered in marshmallow fondant. Rodney carved the cake, though this was our second attempt. The first was way too high and didn't look right at all. We were both very pleased with this one.

The label was piped on by yours truly and it was very time and labor intensive! I'm happy with the way it turned out but some of the things are not exactly the same on both sides, which drives me crazy.
